How to choose a Christmas tree stand: height, trunk and water
Three measurements are enough to keep a tree standing straight all through Christmas. We show which KAMAI model suits which tree.

Three things to check before you buy
You choose the stand to suit the tree, not the other way round. Three pieces of information are enough:
- Tree height. The taller the tree, the wider and heavier the base needs to be. Every model lists a maximum tree height.
- Trunk diameter. Measure the trunk at the point that will sit in the stand. Screw-type stands have a fixed opening; self-clamping KAMAI stands take trunks from 3 to 17 cm, depending on the model.
- Water reservoir capacity. A large tree drinks more. A bigger reservoir means less frequent topping up and fewer dropped needles.
If the customer does not know the measurements, ask about the room: a flat, a house with a tall living room or a company foyer. That is usually enough to point to a model.
Which KAMAI model for which tree
| Model | Max. tree height | Trunk diameter | Water reservoir | Where it works best |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| KAMAI START 2.0 | 2 m | 3–11 cm | 2 l | flat, small tree |
| KAMAI START 2.5 | 2.5 m | 3–12 cm | 2.5 l | flat, living room |
| KAMAI START 3.0 | 3 m | 3–13 cm | 3 l | house, living room with a higher ceiling |
| KAMAI SELECT 3.5 | 3.5 m | 3–14 cm | 3.5 l | house, foyer, shop |
| KAMAI SELECT 4.5 | 4.5 m | 5–17 cm | 6.3 l | large trees: foyers, churches, shopping centres |
All models clamp the trunk with the one-cable system and come with a 5-year warranty. Each has a float water level indicator; the SELECT series adds LED diodes.

Tree species and the stand
KAMAI stands suit all the species usually sold in Poland. They differ in how long they hold their needles:
- Nordmann fir — soft, long needles; stays fresh for a long time. For taller trees choose SELECT 4.5.
- Noble fir — soft needles with a blue tint; holds its needles for a long time.
- Norway spruce — short, stiff needles; drops them sooner after cutting, so it needs regular watering. START 3.0 is usually enough.
- Blue spruce — stiff, blue-grey needles; drops them sooner than firs.
- Serbian spruce — narrow shape, good for smaller rooms.
The worse a species holds its needles, the more a large reservoir and a water level indicator matter.
How to set up a tree in a KAMAI stand
- Make a fresh cut on the trunk if the tree has been lying on the lot for a long time.
- Push the tree onto the spike in the centre of the stand.
- Hold the tree upright and clamp the trunk with the lever. The cable grips the trunk from several sides, even if it is uneven.
- If the tree leans, release the lever, straighten it and clamp again.
- Lock the lever (every model has a lever lock) and fill with water up to the indicator.
How to care for a tree in a stand
- Before setting the tree up, stand the trunk in water for a few hours. The tree will take up water and stay fresh for longer.
- Keep it away from radiators, fireplaces and other heat sources.
- Check the water level indicator every day, especially in the first few days. The float shows the level, so you cannot overfill.
- In a warm room you can also mist the needles with water.
What to write in the product description in your shop
If you sell KAMAI stands, this information answers the questions customers ask most often:
- trunk diameter range and maximum tree height — the first thing a customer asks about;
- water level indicator — no water spilling onto the floor;
- reservoir capacity — topping up every few days instead of several times a day;
- one-cable system and lever — one person can set the tree up;
- 5-year warranty and TÜV Thüringen certificate.
